Deer Creek Open Space (DCOS) is a relatively small property but provides access to Arbaney Gulch and ecologically valuable public lands at Dry Woody Creek/Red Canyon, Arbaney Gulch, Wheatley Gulch, and Bionaz Gulch. The upper reaches of Arbaney Gulch/Dobson Gulch and Red Canyon are mapped as elk production habitat.  Colorado Wildlife Science (CWS) conducted an assessment of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) mapped production areas at Arbaney Gulch/Dobson Gulch and between Sloane Peak and Red Canyon  to determine whether they are suitable and active elk parturition habitat.
